5. October 2022

On 7 November Dr. Serge Petralito, a researcher in Human Factors Psychology at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, will present on the topic of "User-Centered Design and User Experience Evaluation for Digital Innovations In Healthcare.

User-Centered Design (UCD) and User Experience (UX) evaluation entail various methods to ensure a system’s usability, effectiveness, and efficiency as well as to promote optimal UX, e.g. by integrating basic human needs such as autonomy and competence during the whole development process. To this end we analyze a system’s context of use, formulate user and system requirements, do design prototyping, and conduct evaluation studies. In this presentation some practical examples from the development of digital tools and innovations in the field of healthcare (e.g. VR and Serious Gaming) will be discussed to show how human needs can be integrated in an iterative process to promote various UX factors and learning outcomes.
